Company / Performing Groups

"Developing strong technique in the art of dance while enhancing the dancers' connection to the music and the art form."

Clifton Dance Project Company is a high school performing/competition group that meets twice weekly for choreography and rehearsal in addition to the dancers' regular classes. Company members must be enrolled at Clifton Dance Project and are selected on the basis of technique, attitude, and availability.

COMPANY Requirements:

Workshops & Competitions:  All dancers will attend a 1-week workshop held during the summer.  All dancers will attend any competitions or workshops that your group is selected for during the year.  A tentative schedule will be handed out at the meeting.

Classes: All Company dancers will be required to take a minimum of 2 Ballet classes and 2 Jazz classes per week.  Company Rehearsals will be held on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 8:00-9:30.  Company dances will include Jazz, Ballet and Tap.  Not all dancers will be in all numbers.

Attendance: Good attendance is the key to the success of any good dancer.  Absences for illness and school functions are understandable but must be kept to a minimum.  If your absences become a problem, you will be removed from dances that are in progress.  If attendance continues to be a problem, you will be removed from the group.  Good attendance is not limited to rehearsals.  Regular attendance must also be kept in your technique classes.  If you are going to be absent from any class, you must call in and then make-up your class.

As you can see, being in Company requires commitment and time.  If you are involved in after school activities that require a lot of time, please make your choice to commit carefully.  We want all of our talented dancers to feel they are an important part of our goals as we in turn are always helping them to reach theirs.

Clifton Dance Project Performing Groups are performance/competition groups for the younger dancers.  They meet for choreography and rehearsals in addition to their regular classes.  Performing group members are chosen on the basis of technique, attitude, and attendance.
